When I mentioned the 60-70 mph winds, I was probably underestimating what really hit here. I'm not a weather guy, but I think we really got closer to 100 mph winds. The St Louis area had about 600,000 people without power and even now, (9 days later) over 10,000 are still out. Il looks like a hurricane or tornado went through and the imported electric company's are comparing the amount of damage to what Katrina left behind.
My guys building is old, and maybe that had something to do with it, but you wouldn't believe the damage around here. I spoke with a cop I know from the same neighborhood and he told me that he was watching the rear end of his full size pickup truck lift, and light show from under the tires during this storm. And, yes, I was incredibly lucky to have not had the car in the other part of his shop. I have no real structural damage to my car, just cosmetic, though there is a lot of that here. Supposedly, his insurance will be paying for the repaint.... though that is his problem and not mine. We already have that agreed on.
So, maybe, just maybe, I'll at least be able to bring it home before winter, then have time to get everything else in and working before next spring.
