max wedge exhaust question
« on: August 01, 2006 - 12:33:35 PM »
Just wondering if anyone knows anything about the older max wedge stuff...

I have a 64 Fury I am working on right now. I'm building a 440 for it and am wondering if the big max wedge exhaust manifolds will fit on a 915 head. I've got a nice set of 915 heads built and dont have the urge to find a set of max wedge heads.

Just wondering.

AFAIK, they will attach no problem. The ports I'm not sure about. My thought is they are the same port dimensions, but I havent measured either manifold or ports from a factory maxwedge head.

I know the intake and exhaust ports are larger on the max wedge heads.

However, I was just looking at a couple sets of exhaust gaskets and put them up to the 915 head. It looks like the exhaust port opening on the gasket is larger than the opening on the head.

Maybe most BB exhaust gaskets are already opened to max wedge port size ??? ??? ???

If this is the case, I'd think the max wedge headers would bolt right up.

it will work fine , you can port the 915 heads to get closer to max size but with the manifold being larger it will not cause any restriction & yes they will bolt up no problem
