72-4 grille, 4-spd, fr. susp.
« on: July 21, 2006 - 07:49:33 PM »
Part of me wants to horde these parts, but I seriously doubt I will need them in the foreseeable future. Perhaps they could help out someone struggling like me with a restoration.

1972-74 BARRACUDA GRILLE. Driver, not show. One of the big outboard tabs snapped off and I do not have that piece. Small cracks in the center section were repaired before I received it. One of the headlight bezels was fastened with screws that have rusted to the point that I can not remove them without fear of cracking the bezel or grille. Chrome grille opening trim pieces in fair condition.

4-SPD TRANSMISSION: Not sure what it is from, but has the tail extension with mounts for B and E bodies, has the 23-spline input shaft, and was mated to a 383. External linkage was considerably worn out when I bought the car, so I didn’t drive it much before tearing the car apart. It didn’t make any unusual noises when I drove it, and shifted from 1st to 2nd smoothly, as well as from 3rd to 4th. The problem shifting from 2nd to 3rd and into reverse was seems to be due to the shifter. Moving the shifter back and forth was easy; moving it side to side was a two handed task.

BB 4-SPD BELL HOUSING: Date cast into it is 8/21/70

K-FRAME & FRONT SUSPENSION: Needs to be rebuilt. From ’74 318 Cuda with front sway bar and disc brakes. (Stock NAPA rotors, calipers, pads, and flex hoses are about a year old, but have less than five miles on them.)

8.75 REAR: Center section and housing only. (E-body, 489, 3:23, open) Axle shafts, back plates, and brakes removed.

If there is interest, I’ll snap a few photos. Not sure of what the parts are worth, but I’d rather help out a Cuda-Challenger member than maximize profits on E-bay. (It agitates me when I see what parts go for there.) I don’t exactly want to just give them away, however. Just want a fair price. Anyone that could give me an idea would be appreciated.

Shipping could prove to be difficult for me and would prefer pick up. Maybe a close by third person could help out. I work full time and do not have a running car right now. (Motorcycles are so much easier to get around on but just don’t lend themselves much to utility.) Plus I don’t really want to deal with disputes from shipping damage should that happen.

Located in Astoria, Queens in NYC.

astoria, now thats a fun drive ;)
I sure could use the bellhousing, and that grille too. I don't think I can do the drive, but if you can manage shipping I'm interested. A couple hundred bucks + ship?

Looks like someone is swinging by to pick up the entire lot. I'll let you know if anything remains.
