Correct RT grille paint?
« on: November 29, 2006 - 10:17:35 PM »
I'm wanting to refinish the metal part of a RT grill and the headlight  bezels to look original, shouldn't they be  semi gloss black? any brand or type of paint better than the others? I was thinking about SEM trim paint maybe.

Isn't organisol the flat textured paint used on TA hoods and such?

I'm taking a guess here, but I think you want semi-gloss paint(satin) on your grill/bezels. I have the textured organisol on the hood of my pretend T/A. I haven't seen that on the grills.  :dunno:

This belongs to someone on the site.  I forget who.  It is a very nice grille done properly.

The whole grille is made from alluminum.  The center egg crate is just clear anodized alluminum.  It was not black on th R/T's.  The black is a semi-gloss.

OK I got it now,  there's pictures of $100,000 + cars with all black grilles. you'ld think for that kind of money things would be correct  and you could copy them but I guess not.  thanks everyone

I have original sales brochures here that shows it non-painted.  I think it can look black at a distance due to being backed up by a black radiator.
