904 to 727 Trans Help
« on: August 10, 2006 - 06:43:01 PM »
My 74 Challenger had a 318 with a 904 trans, also with a 8 3/4 rear.
I put a 360 in.   I'll be getting a 727 to replace the 904.
Do I have change the drive shaft???
or the Trans Cross Support???
Thanks

I believe the 727 drive shaft is shorter than the 904.

This is what is different between a 727 and a 904:
Driveshaft(around 3 1/2 inches)
Filler tube (but not the dipstick)
Front dust cover

cooler lines and the  mount/crossmember are the same
swap your shifter/kickdown levers ,speedo bullit and gear and the S/N switch (if different) from the 904 to the 727
