ele ctrical problem
« on: August 11, 2006 - 03:32:25 PM »
I am putting a 74 chally together with electronic ignition and am having problems with the wiring (440 motor). The former owner marked most of the wires in the engine bay when he dissassembled. I have tried to hook up all wires except 2 that go to the alternator. I am not sure about these yet. I am not getting any spark out of the coil. In fact it's testing hot on both sides of the coil, - & +. That shouldn't be should it? I think my problem is on the front passenger side corner. The former owner had installed the orange ignition module and a resister to the radiator support (right side) also he was using a mallory coil mounted on the right inner fender. He had tagged 2 wires to the - side  and one wire to the positive side. Still I'm getting no spark out of the coil and yet both - & + terminals on the coil show hot with my test light. I tried another coil and same thing. I am a electronics idiot. Any ideas?     Thanks!
