do ricers always glow orange when racing?
« on: October 08, 2006 - 02:48:15 AM »
This is not a kill story by me this time but one I was lucky enough to observe last night. While heading to Walmart last night about 10 pm, I pull up behind a little ****box with the 5 foot high spoiler on the trunk and the blappy sounding exhaust that reminds you of two stroke bike with an expansion chamber. This abortion sat super low and of course had more tire outside the wheelwell than inside. Plus it looked like he didn't miss a color of the rainbow with all the accent lights on this thing. Normally I dont pay attention to these things but the stereo was booming so loud I wanted to see if the windows would rattle out of it. A really good reason to require yearly inspections (which we don't have here). When the light turned green he buzzed off hard and worked his way ahead to annoy someone else. What I hadn't noticed was the car up ahead of the ricer. Seems the ricer wanted to have a go with this little plain Jane looking Camero. Camero is plain Jane looking at first glance but look a little closer and you see the 10" tires tucked in the wheelwhells and the ladder bars. This thing sat stock level low and had no stripes or other accents to lead one to believe it was anything more than a 6 or small v-8 stock car. I recognized it from the cruise nights and had to get closer to see if this guy would play or just get pissed off. We were entering a stretch of road that is loaded with cops usually and heavy traffic and they both played leap frog with each other. When they go over the hill they started to get more aggressive with each other and at the next light were first in line and both were trying to out froggy the other one. When the light went green the ricer hit it hard from about 20 mph and was surprisingly kwik. The Camero didn't react kwik enuff and got embarrassed ...LOL . At the next light these guys were ready to hit it. Seems the ricer had another surprise to as he burped his nitrous system (with the fogger and lights to boot) . But the Camero had a nitrous system too apparently as he let off a burst of fog to. When the light went green the ricer rolled out about 30 feet and hit it hard and put about 2 car lengths on the Chevy immediately. The Chevy nailed it and put about 6 inches of daylight under his front wheels and the race was on . With me being in my Mazda pick up they got way ahead of me kwik and I couldn't really tell who was ahead of who or by how much but then the ricer turned orange all around it and the Chevy was gone .As I got up to the ricer the dude was trying to get off the road anyway he could and trying to bail out of the car. Seems he must of went lean and fire-balled his engine cuz as I went by him flames were coming out of the hood about 6 inches tall but I think the interior caught fire too as it was smoky as hell and orange glow too. The Camero was not to be seen again. When I was returning home from Wally world there was a firetruck and a couple cop cars there and a burnt piece of **** in the left turn lane (where it must of finally quit rolling too. ) The dude was in the back seat of one of the squad cars and I don't think he was having a good day at this point ...LOL

That sounds like a guy I work with.  He is a nice guy and we talk about cars but he loves to race his turbocharged Honda, with every speed trick in the book, except nitrous. I rode with him once and it is pretty quick, but not as fast as he thinks.  He wants a piece of my Challenger and I will have to teach him a lesson after I get my rear end upgraded.  My only rule is that it has to be on a track.  I did my street racing thing when I was a teenager and never got blue lights, so I was lucky.

Loved that story, its like we have all been there and seen this very thing so many times. I have never seen one blow though, that would be better then some of the burnouts that I have seen here. Did anyone see that episode of pinks where they ended up giving the guy ten lengths ??? This guy really brought some respect to ricers all over. Thanks for brightening my day.
