10 1/2''or 11'' inspection cover ?
« on: August 07, 2006 - 07:35:12 PM »
My car was converted to an A833 from an auto.
when i got it, it did not have a inspection cover installed on it, but the guy gave me a loose one.
when i tried to test fit it to the tranny, it would not seat all the way before hitting the clutch.
the bell housing is cast iron.

I do not want to buy another cover that does not fit so how do i verify if I need a 10.5" or 11'' cover?

Thank you.

p.s. once i know which one i need, does any have one? and does anyone need the smaller one?trade?

Thanks cp.
Are these considered better or worse than the 10.5's ?
Are 10.5's aluminun (lighter) ?

I like the 10.5/10.95 better , the alum bell is lighter & has a bit more room under the car
the 11 " is heavier with the cast bell & bigger flywheel

not really , just a different way of doing the same thing & getting 11" clutch in the car , the later 130 tooth cut production costs by using the same flywheel with virtually any V8 application

I have a pre-70 big-block cast Iron 10.5" bellhousing.  It is considered stronger that the aluminum ones since they tended to sag over time. Look them up under the big block bellhousing lists and you'll see which cars came with them.
