MSD ignition
« on: August 22, 2006 - 06:26:11 AM »
I'm doing some engine bay updating/cleanup and noticed an MSD sticker on the firewall. But when I look around all I see is the normal looking round coil (chrome plated though). I thought MSD systems had some exotic looking components necessary. How can I be sure this is or isn't an MSD?

The MSD coil and ignition box will both be painted red. They also should have stickers on them. Maybe someone just put that on your firewall to be cool.

Mopar sells MSD boxes in black too.
MSD works with normal round coils, but strongly recommends one of their Blaster (stock replacement) parts.
MSD 6 series ignitions DO NOT work with a ballast resistor (but you can retain the look by shorting across its back and eliminating the resistance)
