Fuel line pickup tube..Sock???
« on: September 05, 2006 - 07:25:08 AM »
I  have checked our local parts houses and they don't have a clue to where I can get a "sock
" for the pickup tube.  Any suggestions as I am going to be putting the tank back on soon.

Thanks, David :clueless:

I also go my 3/8 pickup sock from YearOne. It is a good quality unit.  Most recent catalog lists them for 5/16 = $11.40, 3/8 = $12.40.

If you want an Original looking one, many of the vendors that sold new e-body parts at the Mopar Nats had them. I picked up a new 3/8" filter for $9.00.  Look in Mopar Collector's guide and make a few calls.  If you want one quickly and don't care what it looks like (it's in the tank), go to any Ford Dealer and ask their parts counter for the 5/16" or 3/8" filter. Those guys can get one for you. They even have the floats for the sending units.

I bought a sending unit from inlinetube.com with the sock. I'm sure you could buy just the sock if you gave them a call. I had them make some small brake lines for a line-lock with a description over the phone, and they seemed eager to please. Also bought a gas tank, fuel lines, and the regular brake lines from them.

OK. Broke down and ordered from Year One.  The 3/8" sock went up to $15.00. In order to make the shipping work out (about $7.75) I ordered the ground strap for the sending unit too.  All for about $32.00  Wish we could find these parts more local........... :violin: :violin:

But did you ever notice that the Dodge dealer can never find anything?

Plus most of the good parts are on back order or not stocked.

AAAAhhh,Sorry guys i know the parts manager so i really dont worry bout asking and receiving parts.I would suggest trying to use them becouse normally you can have them in one to three days.I do live in florida and yes the southeast warehouse is in orlando but you should still be able to use the local dealer for small things and you will save over Year One.

Okay then,

Get us a part # for a 3/8 sock and a 5/16 sock, then we'll put them in the archives.
Your "parts manager" friend should easily be able to look those up for us.
