yes i know there wasnt 72 challenger convertible that was production,but a few 71's were converted for a t.v. which the name slips my memory, does anyone have any pics of these cars, or know what the show was called? much appreciated

A few were built for the tv series Medical Center. When one of them was restored, a "Chad Everett" button was found under the back seat. Seems like I remember one on the Beverly Hillbillies, but I may be wrong. Jane Hathaway drove a couple of Challenger converts.

SWEET, i want to make one of those cars, anyone know what to do to the frame of a hardtop car after chopping the top of 2 sturdy it so it can be a convertible?

Hi. I don't have many details but I do know that there's some kind of re-inforcement steel tube or bar or shaped pipe under the sheet metal, and runs the length of the rockers. Also all convertibles had front and rear torque boxes.

If I'm not mistaken, I think it wasn't a matter of converting a '72 hardtop to a 'vert, but rather a '70/'71 vert to a '72 model via grill/tail assembly.  I recall reading that...and on this dinky screen, cannot read the posted scans, so I may have already been corrected and not know it yet

anybody have a clue on the whereabouts of the 1972 'cuda convertible used on the TV show "Mannix"?  all of his cars were EF8 green with black tops.

  I'm a Mannix fan, and you are correct. I was blown away by a 72 Cuda convert.  I think his cars were always green, even back when he drove late 60's Darts. Sorry I can't answer your question about whereabouts.

i know the cars were 71 verts converted 2 72's but i dont have the cash for a vert  i do have a 72 hardtop that the roof has holes and id rather make a nice stock lookin vert then a hardtop, anyone help on this or has anyone done this?

'71 converted to '72 for The Mod Squad...was on ebay about 2 mos. ago.....did not meet reserve...stalled at 29k

I read a mopar magazine a few years back about the Mannix car being restored and finished. I don't know who has it and don't know what issue or mag. 

As far as the convertible reinforcements, I saw a pair of these on ebay a while back.  They looked like the rockers and were about a 1/4" thick. The ran the entire length of the rockers to add horizontal strength.   You can use anything on there to support the frame since they are hidden by the rockers and torque boxes.
