Slap Stik
« on: December 15, 2006 - 12:44:45 PM »
the 73 Challenger cam with some sorta ratchet shifter thingy that we can not stand.  we want to go with the original look...(hoping to upgrade to a Auto-Pistol Grip at some point) How can I tell if all of the linkage in place is correct (as I have never messed with shifter linkage).

Does it use a cable or a steel rod to link the shifter to the trans? Cable means aftermarket (what it probably has) and you will need the factory linkage and brackets. Many times they cut out the brackets to mount the shifter :swear:.

Cables aren't too bad. I'd have a slap stik over them any day but set up right they do the job.
Though, they can be prone to melting if not installed correctly.  :eek4:

Looks like you'll be searching eBay for a slap-stik setup, yes?  :naughty:
You could ask Chryco...he usually has parts lying around.

looking that way.  I am hoping to find some stuff "just lying around"

as this will be a driver and not a show car I do not Need perfect.

I can always upgrade later...but for now I guess I will uses as is.

The freeplugs should be back in the block this week.  and I hope the fan will be mounted.

this will leave me with bleeding the brakes, and pulling the fuel tank...a good cleaning and a new sending unit...oh then I may actualy get her fired up and take her around the yard .... or by the light of the moon .. a trip around the block!  :working:

Thanx, I will try to put that to use.

I have a guy over at the house today, he is suposed to get the freeze plugs in, and s few other things.  I will see if he has any parts laying round. He may have linkage, its the selector I will have to work on.
