Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!   :2thumbs:    What a great place!     :ylsuper:

The Beast Chassis has been certified by the official NHRA Georgia Chassis Cert man.  It passed with flying colors and is certified down to 8.50 seconds in the 1/4.   :burnout:   The certification is good for the next 3 years, so I can nail it all I want for 3 whole years!    :cooldancing:   :bigshades:

Raced for 7 years in my 340 Cuda, and I bought the big block Cuda while I still had the '72 with the 340. So I would run the tried and proven '72 Cuda in full competition of Friday nights in Pro, and then switch to the big block Cuda on Saturdays in the 1/4mi also in Pro.

During the last couple years I ran the two of them, I raced 2-3 times per week. Had a lot of passes on the 340, and I mean a lot and enough passes on the big block that it didn't make it the season. My average reaction time for the last season I ran, including all the bone head hurry up and leave lights, I still netted a 0.544 ave or a 0.044 by the way they do it today. Generally, on a friday night, I was in the 0.025 or better range on the lights for 1st pass. If you didn't get at least an .025 light, you were dead. Not many cars in Pro wanted to line up against the black Cuda, only the seasoned vetrens.

340 was dyno'd at 337hp, and 400ftlbs with 8.5:1 340 484 hyd cam and 800cfm holley and 904 with 4700 stall and went 12.0's at 112mph and 7.62 in the 1/8th at 89mph 60ft was a 1.607s

After the 440 in my Big block Cuda gave up the ghost trying to get better than 11.90's, I put the Hemi in it. If you guys think I didn't beat on the Hemi, think again. Best it went with carbs on the mild 9.5:1 hemi was 11.60 at 119mph. Never got a 10 sec slip out of it, always broke something.

Best I have run was a two minute 1/4... but that was literally running... on a track... in HS gym class. ::)

Still looking for a car to try it with. I'm hoping to cut at least 1min. 45sec. off that time.

Matt,

Thanks for making me feel better!!   :jumping:  I'm more than twice your age, and I can run a quarter in less than 1:40.    Of course, don't ask me to go a step further!!  :eek4:

You're welcome... but all I did was divide my mile time by 4 to get that number... can't vouch for its accuracy.

Hey MEK
I ran a 52sec quarter in H.S.!  My best mile was 5:10 though I ran it only once indoors because the coach was trying to punish me(normally ran 300/600m)!  Oh well  Never had this car on the strip next year from the pace of the Body Shop   :faint:
