My first time posting,(rookie), whats up mopar bros? Now to the subject at hand AeroHead or Indy heads, Lazzeri Place ect..Unless you are a professional racer with loads of money, with an open checkbook and a shut your mouth policy(dont call us we are too busy investing your money!!), dont bother with them, Shady dell, (ryan J) is the ones to use also Hensley Racing is good too! I went to Indy cylinder head in 1999, asked for K. Lazerri he used to be Mr.Herb McCandless head engine builder, Ken sent one of his teenage kid workers out to tell me he doesnt work on junk! O.K. so now my 1970 440SIXPACK Dodge Challenger engine is junk huh!I asked to speak with him personally and told the "kid" I had ten grand U.S. and showed it to him! He repeated the same thing! I will drive an honda v-tec and drop 100k into it BEFORE I EVER DEAL WITH INDY AGAIN!! AND I EAT RICE NOT DRIVE IT!! also my junk 440 Dynoed 583 horsepower 550 Torque, had Hensley Racing build it for me I highly recommend them!

That has been my experience too , Not a K L fan , another member spent 14k on a hemi & phoned for some technical advice to assemble the engine & they blew him off too  :swear:

??? GEEZ ! Idunno !  Everytime I phone and talk to K.L. or Russ/Scott/Jim , everythings GREAT. I find them to be REAL GUYS, selling REAL STUFF !

Never had to phone and ask an "assembly question ? " on a 14K HEMI though, granted, I would expect their imput !

Is it possible that they thought in their "arrogance", that someone purchasing a 14K HEMI should actually KNOW something about HEMI's ? Was it a Torque spec. ? Valvetrain Geometry question ?

Granted, poor C.S. on their part, but they are a product of their environment. Probably get people all the time that wanna purchase a HEMI kit, then phone 'em 15 times for assembly instructions. Cripes ! Better start a school.

I have phoned with some VERY tough TECH questions at times though TOO, and found them extremely forthcoming, and VERY knowledgeable about their products.

1. JESEL valvetrain conversion milling specs. for 440-1 heads,       NO PROBLEM ! even faxed blueprints

2. Valvetrain Geometry deflection @ different springrates/std valvetrain             NO PROBLEM !

3. Bearing speeds, and recommended bearing eccentiricities from their experience,     NO PROBLEM ! Kenny even phoned me back for a 20 minute "chinwag" on THEIR nickel !

4. How much overbalance to use @ different bobweight calcs/POWER/RPM being spun        NO PROBLEM !

I really dunno what to say here. I guess everybody has different experiences with INDY. If I were to speculate, It's my opinion, that when people are purchasing the real "hotrod" stuff, sometimes maybe, they are expecting too much in the way of, what they may consider, "rudementary" tech support, and get blown off.

Personnally, I've always found them to be more than helpful. Remember, MOPARS are the love of their lives ! Just like us ! It's just maybe they get questions being asked, that they think the answer should be obvious.

I'm NOT calling anyone stupid here, NO such thing as a Dumb Question !

But, has anyone ever asked a question, got the answer, then thought about it for awhile, and said to themselves "I knew that" ?

Or conversely

Asked a question, got the answer, then had 10 more questions, and realized, oops ! I better get someone in here knows more about this than me ?

To clarify, the INDY stuff "generally", is targeted for Hard Core, no B.S. , "ball to the wall" horsepower that these engines were NEVER intended for. Look at their Catalog, 650-750-850-1000 horsepower stuff. Purchasing that stuff, and that undertaking by itself, should tend by itself,  indicate a high degree of experience from the end user/purchaser.

I stand by my Statement  "The INDY stuff is the **** ! "  Everything worthwhile, takes a little extra effort, especially if you want to do it yourself, and NOT pay someone else to do it for you.

Go to the "proven engine combos" section on here, "INDY SR head potential". Even the entry level INDY SR is capable of 545/793 hp in a "max-ported" configuration. I just can't do THAT with the EDDY's, but then again, I can always "pretty much" just bolt EDDY's on.

Look at some of the other engine combos on there while you're at it. Small Block 408, pump fuel, flat tappet cam, 536 hp/ INDY HEADS !

Soon, the 900 HP 440-1 head 540/FLAT TAPPET CAM, will be posted there too. NO NITROUS, NO BLOWER, JUST INDY HEADS  !

Dunno bout areohead ! If people are having problems I can't comment.

Hope I haven't started a FLAMER ! I go away now, ME BAD !

Different people have different experiences I guess.

As an INDY dealer, I can tell you from experience, I've NEVER had a real problem dealing with the Company.
You think maybe the reason you've never had a problem with them is because you are an INDY dealer? And because of this you have talked to them on a regular basis? Where as the average buyer is just someone they have never or hardly ever talked to.
Having worked in retail for 24 years I've seen this alot.
I was always tought treat every customer how you would want your family to be treated.

Well, I think maybe you keep them in too high an ivory tower. You're a dealer, and they are much better off telling you anything you wantt o know non-gratis, so their product stays the #1 recommendation. I build about 5-10 engines a year. All Mopars, big and small blocks. I've met and spoken personally with Herbie on several occasions, and always been treated as a student. Not an equal, but definately not as a yocal. I asked wquestions, he answered them, and helped me with some decisions i was making. I've never spoken with Ken. That being said, I would expect if my name was as intertwined as Lazzerri's is with Indy, that every person touching "my" stuff would be highly skilled, or they would be in the shipping dept. With all Indy products, that is NOT the case. All of their stuff needs attention out of the box. Everything. The valley covers need basic touch up. The valve covers, the intakes, all the heads...How many CNC edelbrock heads vs Indy heads have you looked at? There are a lot more "untouched" areas in the indy castings, because the Indy castings are that much inconsistant. Not really bad, but not "the nuts" as you called them. I have a $9500 432" crate engine that had to be run dangerously lean to just squeek out the promised 500hp, with SR heads. On their own dyno (which is definately a little happy from what I can see). I can get more HP from a smaller engine for $1500 less, including dyno time. The oil filter they shipped it with is a Fram..the cheapest you can get. And, I took pics for the owner, it was defective from the get go, but the highly skilled guys at Indy installed it...With part of the inner seal hanging out of the filter. In the car, the same engine dyno'd at 360hp at the tire (430 or so flywheel)..that's only about 70hp less than Indy swore by. For $9500 plus shipping. That's the best parts, put together by trained monkeys from what I can see. Areohead is the retail/mailorder side of Indy....same guys. I think perhaps they should step back, take a breath, and realize that the reason their parts do as well as they do, is that savvy builders make them work to their potential. They sure aint that good OOTB. The new Victors, and to some extent Bulldogs will do as well, or better in the future, and you dont have to swallow your pride, or hand over the platinum card for the pleasure. My own SRs only needed 3 guides fixed, 8 seats re-cut because they were way out of round, and the one large aluminum shaving removed form the port. Now they are fine. How did that shaving get stuck in an assembled, and final cleaned part? Bad monkeys..bad...bad monkeys... :pullinghair:

Like I said HELL with INDY Cylinder HEAD! They can deal with all the millions of balls to the wall nitro belching hemi wedge pro-stock top fuel guys, I am a simpleton who enjoys Fast MoPars with equipment thats "junk" and theres only a few of us out there so I guess I will deal with Chuck at best machine or Ryan at Shady dell or Hensley Racing or some of the other MoPar places,
