GEEZ ! Idunno ! Everytime I phone and talk to K.L. or Russ/Scott/Jim , everythings GREAT. I find them to be REAL GUYS, selling REAL STUFF !
Never had to phone and ask an "assembly question ? " on a 14K HEMI though, granted, I would expect their imput !
Is it possible that they thought in their "arrogance", that someone purchasing a 14K HEMI should actually KNOW something about HEMI's ? Was it a Torque spec. ? Valvetrain Geometry question ?
Granted, poor C.S. on their part, but they are a product of their environment. Probably get people all the time that wanna purchase a HEMI kit, then phone 'em 15 times for assembly instructions. Cripes ! Better start a school.
I have phoned with some VERY tough TECH questions at times though TOO, and found them extremely forthcoming, and VERY knowledgeable about their products.
1. JESEL valvetrain conversion milling specs. for 440-1 heads, NO PROBLEM ! even faxed blueprints
2. Valvetrain Geometry deflection @ different springrates/std valvetrain NO PROBLEM !
3. Bearing speeds, and recommended bearing eccentiricities from their experience, NO PROBLEM ! Kenny even phoned me back for a 20 minute "chinwag" on THEIR nickel !
4. How much overbalance to use @ different bobweight calcs/POWER/RPM being spun NO PROBLEM !
I really dunno what to say here. I guess everybody has different experiences with INDY. If I were to speculate, It's my opinion, that when people are purchasing the real "hotrod" stuff, sometimes maybe, they are expecting too much in the way of, what they may consider, "rudementary" tech support, and get blown off.
Personnally, I've always found them to be more than helpful. Remember, MOPARS are the love of their lives ! Just like us ! It's just maybe they get questions being asked, that they think the answer should be obvious.
I'm NOT calling anyone stupid here, NO such thing as a Dumb Question !
But, has anyone ever asked a question, got the answer, then thought about it for awhile, and said to themselves "I knew that" ?
Or conversely
Asked a question, got the answer, then had 10 more questions, and realized, oops ! I better get someone in here knows more about this than me ?
To clarify, the INDY stuff "generally", is targeted for Hard Core, no B.S. , "ball to the wall" horsepower that these engines were NEVER intended for. Look at their Catalog, 650-750-850-1000 horsepower stuff. Purchasing that stuff, and that undertaking by itself, should tend by itself, indicate a high degree of experience from the end user/purchaser.
I stand by my Statement "The INDY stuff is the **** ! " Everything worthwhile, takes a little extra effort, especially if you want to do it yourself, and NOT pay someone else to do it for you.
Go to the "proven engine combos" section on here, "INDY SR head potential". Even the entry level INDY SR is capable of 545/793 hp in a "max-ported" configuration. I just can't do THAT with the EDDY's, but then again, I can always "pretty much" just bolt EDDY's on.
Look at some of the other engine combos on there while you're at it. Small Block 408, pump fuel, flat tappet cam, 536 hp/ INDY HEADS !
Soon, the 900 HP 440-1 head 540/FLAT TAPPET CAM, will be posted there too. NO NITROUS, NO BLOWER, JUST INDY HEADS !
Dunno bout areohead ! If people are having problems I can't comment.
Hope I haven't started a FLAMER ! I go away now, ME BAD !
