I need to know how you identify whether a 71 340 Six Pack engine is an original T/A, AAR or just a built up 340?

The T/A was a 70 only option. To the best of my knowledge a 71 T/A motor would not exist. Most likely the 70 T/A motor would be cast in 69. I believe the block has the writing 340 TA cast on the block side.

Some left over T/A blocks were used in 1971 on 4 barrel cars, look for the T/A casting number in the driver's side;

Oh $#!t Tod! I think the motor I put in the white/blue 71 340 R/T was one of those! I seem to remember seeing that on the block! I know the steering gear box also said t/a on it...

If it is the one you bought from me it wasn't a T/A. That motor came out of a 68 Formula S that Scott M. had let rot to death in his yard.

Must be thinking of another block I've had. Maybe I'll check out the one in my warehouse and see if it is it.
