Went to my mechanic to check on my car today and it sounds awesome. Replaced my mufflers with new flowmasters. I was all happy until I went under the car while it was on the lift. The front floor pans are rusted through. Right near my mechanic is a body shop and I had the body shop owner come over to look at my car. I have a cracked grill with a piece missing which I have. He says he can fix it. I showed him the pans and say he can repair them but he'll have to do it from the inside. I priced them at year one and at least they aren't very expensive. I showed him the rear quarter panel bumps and around the rear window. He told me he dosen't like to use bondo he would rather cut out the bad parts and replace with sheet metal. To make a long story short all the work comes out to about 6000 dollars. The paint will cost about 800 in materials. It will take about 3 months to complete the work more or less. I was a little down about it today but I have seen some of you guys with your projects and you all sound very happy with a lot of work a head of you. I know it's a lot of money but I have to fix this car right. He told me he can work with me pay a deposit and work from there. I have not had this car very long but I bought it with the intention of not selling it but make it a very nice cruiser not a show car (well almost heheh) . Anyways I thought writing about it with fellow mopar fans would make me feel a little better. It has and I will be keeping you guys up to date as I fix the car with pics etc.. I have incrediably got even wife approval for this project for about Dec of this year. In the mean time I will be getting misc parts. I need the scoops , trunk trim , re chrome of mirrors and bumpers and interior pieces. I want to do it right even if it takes me a while. I figured if I am going to invest more than I originally thought let me do it the right way. I think this project when it is all done will cost me about 8000 dollars in blood money..
Anyways I am gonna hold on the scoops and start accumlating other items first.
I have to get the car from the mechanic back first and at least cruise in my car for while before I let it go again for some repairs.
