intake manifold
« on: May 08, 2006 - 09:12:05 PM »
I hope someone can give me a little help here.  I am installing a a new Edelbrock manifold (4bbl) on my 79' Powerwagon (360-2bbl) and I am having trouble finding some fittings.  I need the by-pass hose fitting (3/4 NPT to  1" hose) and the heater hose fitting (3/8 NPT to 1/2 hose).  The auto stores that I have been to do not seem to carry the correct pieces.  My question is can I use brass pipe fittings from the hardware store?  This is an aluminium manifold and right now I am not concerned with original parts, I would just like to get my parts-hauler going again. :clueless:

Thanks,
Garrett

No problem.  I've do it a few times and haven't had a problem yet.  Some of those fitting are in the regular pipe section of the hardware store too in galvanized iron.

Everyone,
Thanks for the input.  Carquest was the only one that has the correct intake manifold hose fittings.

Does anyone have a part # for the bypass hose fitting and the heater hose fitting.

I stopped at the dodge dealer today and they said $38.00 for the bypass fitting.  I asked them to reconfirm to make sure a decimal point did't get shifted and they said it was only supposed to be $35.00.   :roflsmiley:
So then I called carquest and asked for them and they needed thread specs.  I told them I think it's 3/4NPT with a 1" hose fitting.  They said that doesn't sound right and they will do some looking for me.  I got a quote from them of 7-8 bucks delivered to my cousin's place of employment 20 miles for them. maybe 1 for me
