How was everyones weekend?
« on: September 25, 2006 - 11:38:35 AM »
:swear: well my saturday started by checking out my 95 f-150 4x4,picked up some tables last wednesday for lil wife so she could have them for her rumage sale, unloaded them in my driveway, went to the end of driveway and the pedal goes to the floor  :pullinghair: get out and check it out and sure enough blew a rear  brake line above the rear axle  :pullinghair: was hoping it was a hose, but noooooo..anyway saturday tear into it hoping to splice a piece in but noooo again, end up replacing the entire brake line from the rear hose to the front proportioning valve.  :pullinghair: so this is how my weekend ended up,wasn't a fun job by no means, still picking out rust pieces out of my eyes today  :roflsmiley: ya i know wheres the safety glasses.  :lol2:  :lol2: well got it done and its fine now, p/s evr try bleeding your brakes alone, that was fun, used a ice scrapper for the pedal to seat trick, work out great.  :roflsmiley: ---dave---

Dave,

I had to replace the solid front to back brake line in my Chally earlier this year. It was a self inflicted wound though.  :bricks1: I was replacing my rear leaf springs. As I was taking the one out on the driver's side, I snagged it on the brake line and made a kink in it. Sure enough, drip, drip, drip.  :swear: The story gets better... as I'm sliding this new brake line in thru the engine compartment, I kinda slid it over the "+" battery terminal. With the line already making contact with the body, there was all kind of sparks and smoke. The line got pretty hot too.  :22yikes:  :22yikes:  :22yikes: Yeah, I work in the electronics field too.  :sadwavey:

:roflsmiley: Mike, who would have thunk to discounect the battery when replacing brake lines. :lol2: thats a good one,i'll have to keep that in mind next time cause you never know.did you fry anything else when you did that.?this is the second time this has happened to me,the last time was the drive up instant cash at the bankgot my cash went forward and bang right to the floor.blew the front brake hose on that, off to the parts store and get a ride home to get my tools, fixed it right in the bank parking lot.  :pullinghair:

Don't you just love parking lot fixes?? :grinno:

We had a better weekend than you did Fanatic.  Friday night high school football game...beautiful night even if we did lose. Saturday we brought our car to our church fall festival for folks to look at.  Sunday, worked on sanding down the duster some more.  Pixie should be posting pictures soon.

Goody...what is the car collection?  I must have missed that somehow.

I took my dad (82) to Sarasota Florida. Ya, the Chally needs a new rad hose installed .... but it'll be there. My Dad wanted to go to the Ringling (circus fame) Art Museum! We had a blast! After the museum I took him on a swap tour , went to Longboat Key, saw gators birds and bikini's!! He loved it!   (Me too!)

Friday I almost ran into the rear end of my buddies car with my Cuda when my brakes failed. I was just able to stop before running into him by putting on the emergency brake. I found out I had a brake line leaking on my proportioning valve and it had let my master cylinder run dry. Had to find some place that sold dot 5 silicone brake fluid as I had switched over when I built the cuda. Got the line to stop leaking and filled the master cylinder and everything seems to be a go. It made my heart almost stop thinking about what might have happened.
