H-Beam rods

Cat, Scat, Eagle, ProLine....Is there any bigger differencies between these rods?
Current Vehicles:
Plymouth PPR Cuda 1970 489 cid
Plymouth GTX 1970 RS23V0E

I don't know if there is a difference but I would get any aftermarket rod checked out before assembly.  Make sure the big end is the proper size and round.  Make sure the small end to pin is sized properly.  I bought some Eagle I beam rods and the big ends were 0.006" out of round and had to all be resized!  Check everything. I should of just rebuilt the stock rods.

Yes, the better ones are more expensive :bigsmile:.  Like was said, all should be checked. I havent had any issues with real Eagle H beams, the $700/set ones. I have had problems iwth others. Scat, 440Source, etc. Problems meaning they required me to pay a shop to properly size them on the big ends. Almost all will require pin fitting.

How about just getting a good set of originals? Have them shot peened etc. at least you know what your getting (sort of). AFtermarket stuff is just that aftermarket. No doubt there is good stuff out there but Mother Mopar knows best!

It all depends on the application. I use H beams for my stroker engines, because the piston speeds with a 4" crank are way too much for factory rods over 6K or so. They are cheap insurance that costs about $200 more than redoing factory ones.
