weight loss
« on: September 29, 2006 - 12:28:11 PM »
Anyone know the weight of a 440 4-spd Cuda with power steering? How about the front/rear weight distribution?

Kinda curious of where I’ll be sitting. I read that the AlterKtion set up saves 140lbs over stock set up with power steering.

Also know that the Keisler 5-spd is 99lbs w/o the bell housing. Actually make that “think” and not “know.” Anyone know what an Mopar 4-spd weighs with or w/o the bell housing?

And finally, how much do you save with aluminum heads on a big block?

I would say  the car weighs about 3800 lbs. You should also save about 20 lbs per head. These are just my guess not facts --- but I think I am close.

My Cuda weighed 3600# without anyone in it. I have a 392 hemi in it, which weighs a good 100# more than a 440.

I think 392Heminut hit right around where you should be sitting, provided things were all stock.  I know my small block '73 Challenger weighed in at 3,380 lbs, so you would probably be sitting around near that weight with an alter-k-tion kit and the 440-6.  As for weight distribution, I haven't the slightest idea other than you can expect to be front heavy, as expected.  Chryco or some other knowledgable member may know the exact specs. :2thumbs:

Thanks for the replies guys. When it's all together, I want to find a place to weigh it like I did with my '85 W150 Power Ram. With a 1/4 of gas, it was 4700lbs. (standard cab, short bed, 360, 727, 4WD)
