Fender tag question

My fender tag build date reads C05,is that December 5th 1970.

Close, since your car is a 1970 model, C05 is December 5th, 1969. The 1970 model year ran from August 1st 1969 - July 31st 1970.

It is also the sheduled production date, there is no way to know if the car was actually built that day.

Barry,The casting date of the engine should be how many months before or after the build date of the car?

There is no set rule, I have seen some casting dates several months before the cars SPD, and some only two weeks or so before the SPD.

I have also seen some 1969 cast blocks used in 1971 model cars. Why? No clue, I would love to know.
