Oh, Karma, you naughty little wench!
« on: October 09, 2006 - 02:09:41 PM »
Friday morning, after dropping the wife off at work, my young daughter and I were cautiously driving home in the rain.  Some yahoo in a brand new dark blue BMW was ripping along the main highway, trying desperately to pass everybody, weaving in and out of traffic, riding bumpers, taking the shoulder.  Some Eastern European lookin guy with a skin tight white knit shirt, designer sunglasses (I did mention the rain, right?) and yackin on a cell phone (no hands-free).  I kept as much distance between us as possible, cuz I don't want to risk my daughter for any jerk.  About a mile up ahead, in the left (fast) lane, I noticed thick, black skid marks veering left, into the guard rail, a big chunk of black plastic, then skid marks went to the right.  I looked over, to see the BMW on the right shoulder, the hood was an accordion, thick smoke billowing from underneath.  The tire was gone, and the guy was just getting out of the car, so I missed the action by mere seconds!

Nobody was stopping to check on him, either..cuz, well..nobody cared!

Just goes to show that even on rainy days, Lady Karma doesn't take a holiday!

:pullinghair: Hate to say it but it serves him right, glad you and daughter weren't near him.  i had a similar experience a few years back.while coming back home from michigan to st paul, me and the wife were almost back where traffic gets nuts here,By the way its snowing like bansy and the roads were slippery, anyway i holler to the wife to let him go by and sure enough he goes around us in the left lane, loses it goes in the ditch and rolls it a few times, what a butthead,we didn't stop cause other cars were behind us and didn't what to cause another accident.could see in our rear view a couple other were pulling over. but some people.  :pullinghair:

Sounds like a typical BMW Owner! Several of my friends are BMW Owners, and we call that the 'BMW Way'.

It's funny how often they drive like that too!

Glad you two are ok!  :bananasmi

Glad you guys were ok!  :grinyes:

There's always some num nut on the road that thinks the laws of physics don't apply to them, especially in the rain/snow!!!!  :22yikes:

Reminds me of when it was raining and it felt like the roads were slick so I took it easy that night.   A Subaru Legacy wagon came flying by me in the left lane as we were going down through an underpass on a small highway.

As he was coming out (too fast I may add) the road turns to the right but the weight of his car must've lifted some because when he came out  and should have gone to the right, his car kept going straight and nailed the guardrail.  He then bounced off and proceeded across the road into my lane.

Thank God the road went from 2 lanes in to 3 at that point because I pulled the wheel to the right as quickly as I could and literally missed the guy by less than 1 foot.  I would of swore that guy hit me but thank God nothing happened.  I was shaking for the next mile after that!

Good thing I played all those driving games when I was younger!  :roflsmiley:

thanks, guys.  Yeah, we were fine..didn't even see it happen.  When I passed by, and saw the car, I actually burst out laughing, and clapped...served him right!
