Convertible top install
« on: October 03, 2006 - 06:44:33 PM »
I was wondering if any one here has ever installed a top?The local shop wants around 500 labor to do it.Seems high to me but a wrinkled top doesn't interest me either.

I think this is a difficult task. I can recall 4C having it done by someone, and Chryco agreeing that it was a pain. That is proof enough for me.  :grinyes:

I think I even paid more than that if I remember right.  Do not tackle it yourself unless you have nerves of steel and a lot of patience.  $500 would be a great investement for a good install, and no headaches.

Make sure that the metal is all redone and painted while you are doing it...lucky for me...that was included.   :2cents:

I did one on a 69 Firebird years ago and i will tell you it's not to bad to get the top on, but to get it on with no wrinkles  :roflsmiley:. It took me forever and i never did them ALL OUT . I would pay the 500 and let somebody else worry about it
