Woodgrain Gauge Panels?
« on: October 03, 2006 - 02:23:48 PM »
I was just wondering if anyone has refaced their gauge panels and shifter plate with anything other than the standard Mopar woodgrain.  That is one part of the Cuda that never sat right with me. It just doesn't seem to fit its image and I am looking for some alternatives. Please post pics if you got 'em!

Thanks,
Ed

Ed,

The only pics I have now are in my brain, and I'm sorry to say I can't afford to give you any of my brain cells.  What color is your interior? If the woodgrain doesn't suit you, maybe painting it body color would work??  :dunno: In all honesty, I have only seen people do this with after-market gauges. Do you have standard, or Rally gauges?

Mike,

I have a black interior (still in boxes for now) and rallye gauges. I thought maybe a brushed aluminum or carbon fiber look might be neat but I wanted to see if there were some more adventureous members who have already done it.

I have been considering the carbon fiber myself. I have not looked into materials as of yet.  I did not want to use a decal. I wanted something thicker.  I planned to use the woodgrain as a template

thanks 72hemi...good info

If I can get my hands on some old rallye woodgrain plates I would definitely like to experiment with some different ideas. I just don't want to mess up the originals in my car.
