WIW for insurance purposes/ 2 cars
« on: October 28, 2006 - 05:47:19 PM »
I am going to have to change my insurance policies to something better to protect the value of my cars. So I will have to get an agreed value for them both.

70 barracuda fc7 was 318 4 speed with many good options like 6 way seat, rallye dash, 355 sure grip, M46 quarter scoops, sway bars. It has 42k original miles on it. Has not been driven since 1975 and has zero rust or bondo cept for a small tiny spot will be going on the passenger fender by the marker light where it had a dent.  The car is being put back together as a 440-6 4 speed 410 8 3/4, with all the factory options it came with before. Only things I am changing is the engine, exhaust and gears. The rest is what it had. Cept for the shaker hood too, I forgot about that...sorry

Then my 74 challenger. No rust, solid black inside and out fresh paint, chrome, interior fresh, fresh 68 hp 440 and factory exhaust. 15x7 and 15x8 rallye rims. Good strong running car and screaming come drive me I'm fun !!

Think combined I may be worth 20k to insure?  Too much?
I was told only 400 M46 barracudas made. These cars are original panel cars with new front ends ,paint interior and everything else.

Help me out with some guesses... I'm old school and have no idea about todays prices. Except everything is over priced. Thanks

Man, of all places to find out a WIW question for my insurance company tomorrow, I would of thought that this web site would have been numero uno for an acuarte estimate. What gives? I need some input on the value of my cars, anybody? :feedback: :blah: :banghead: :thinkerg:

Its hard to tell without pics.  I would think from your description that they should be worth more than $20,000.  It sounds like the Chally might be worth $10-$15,000 itself.  The Barracuda, if it is apart, its really hard to estimate.  After its finished, it should be worth $30,000 or more.  Check out the NADA car price guide website, also check out ebay, to see what cars like yours are going for.

NADA has a price guide for my age cars? I never new. I build this stuff myself, so I have no Idea about values.  I can have the cuda running and driving in a week.

Doing all the work myself and including buying the challenger last year, I got 4k in it. It was a hull with nothing. But man was it fun to assemble that puzzle. &4 challenger gone up to those kinds of values? I know I cant sell now. I would never be able to buy another at those prices.
Thanks for the info :2thumbs:

Judging from the values that have been coming over my desk (without seeing your cars) $20,000 might be too low. You need to get a appraisal and submit them to your insurance company and make sure you get an"agreed value" policy.

I believe your right. Even that nada book said I was way off.  Agreed value is what I will be doing the insurance for. These cars sure are fun. It is so hard to believe they cost so much in todays world. Glad I got 5 or 6 parts cars to fixem, when they get torn up some how.

Thanks everyone...ALAN
