72 Challenger

Body in Primer, Fiberglass fenders, new bumpers, disk brakes(new), new rear springs/shackles, new front end(poly), alignment, new door handles, trunk/quarter extension trim new, new side marker lenses, new headlight bezels, seats recovered, interior panels dyed black(driver quality), new carpet, new sill plates, new dash cap, New T/A Hood.

Has 318 runs drives 904 auto/slapstick 323 sure-grip, new 600cfm edelbrock electric choke,performer intake, headers w/T/A style exhaust.  New Torque Thrust Rims 15x7" 235/60/15F 255/70/15R. 

Also have 72 340 motor complete(heads to oil pan)

Here's the deal, Car is apart at body shop have e'thing to go back together but my miserable wife is riding me hard about $$$(what else is new).  What is it worth as it stands vs painted EV2 and put back together?  In other words do I put it back together(killing me in the process) to sell it or sell it in primer with interior out so they can pick the color and reassemble.

Hate to do it but I know some day I could replace the car.

FWIW I paid 5K for the car with ratty interior 318 no disk brakes old supension etc.

Probably get more for it put back together and painted than not.  Making it a running and driving car definitely helps!

I understand it's worth more painted but that cost $$$ as well, so would I be better off putting interior back in install lenses bumpers etc.  If I did that someone would have to pull it all back apart again!  I guess then they could see how to put it back together?  I test fit everything before I sent it to paint.  What am I looking at $$ wise together but not painted 7K?  painted and together 10K?  Idk.

Good paint is gonna cost 3K anyways right?
The car is fully functional now except for the handles and lenses etc(off for paint).
I'm just going to have a hard time justifying the $$$ to paint after paying for the bodywork.

I know you'd get a better return if it was painted and fully assembled as opposed to being semi-stripped.  You should be able to advertise it for around $15,000 finished as opposed to probably a max of around $6,500-$8,000.00 as a running project car needing paint.  It's more money spent finishing up the rest of the work, but I think it will only benefit you in the long run.   It sucks you have to sell it off, but like you said you should be able to find something later on when things are fully settled in.

Please paint it. No offense, I can't handle looking at that color scheme. If you paint it, it will bring lots more money I'm sure. Like all red or all white. That will attract more buyers for you. Please dont get offended by my opinion. Just doesnt look appealing to a large croud in that color scheme to me.

No biggie, cause I may have pulled one out but only time will tell(I think I scored a large Electrical project for the winter and that should take care of the $$$ issues).  Hopefully I'll know by Friday, it's a 43 Unit building, the biggest I've done personally was 24 but now with my Master's I can hire a couple more guys for the winter.

Thanks Al hopefully the job is a go and it'll all work out.  I would stink to sell and not have something else right away, as I've always had at least 1 Mopar at a time.  I had 1(actually 3) before her(wife) as well!   Now I have 2 kids and one due in April!  I guess sometimes we have to sacrifice as necessary.

   Too bad you have to sell it.  Real sorry to hear that.  It's a pretty solid car.

Any way that you can keep it and just let it hibernate since you have this big job infront of you?

I know what it's like to compromise with the wife.  Got 3 little kids too!  Lots of other stuff needs the attention, not just the car.  Have to try to see it from her perspective.

You already have the car and know it well.  If you sell it you'll probably have to shell out more $$$ to get something in this sort of shape.

You know as well as I do that E-bodies don't just grow on trees in Massachusetts, let alone any muscle cars.

Try to keep it and just put it to the side for now and let the wifey settle down about the $$$ issue.  Just my

Ooop, my bad, forgot about the 340.   Go for the $10K and see what happens.

I was thinking along the line of the 318/904 tranny. But still I don't think it was a Rallye car or originally a 340 car.

If it was painted it would be so much easier to sell it for a higher price (Captain Obvious speaking!).

Thanks Guys,  Man it has been a long month already!  I signed the contract today on that job the gross #'s are over 400K so I think I should be able to keep the Challenger!  That Master's License is coming in hand now!  Maybe I can get a Stablemate as well?
