a-pillar plastic trim ??'s
« on: August 06, 2003 - 01:18:18 AM »
Does anyone make these repro?  Since I'm doing a color change on the interior, my originals are not correct as well as they are REALLY brittle from the sun.

Thoughts?  I want white ones.

not that I`m aware of , they are definatly tough to find in decent shape , white are the worst too the plastic deteriorates far worse on the white pieces

I guess I should have looked a little closer before posting.  Year One has them on their online catalogue.

peterro:

I'm not too fond of Year One or the Paddock (in my opinion, their shipping charges are a rip-off), but Year One's online catalog has them for $105.00 in white.  Here's the link:

I hope this helps you out.  Other companies might also sell these pillar mouldings.

I guess we are both falling over each other to find a supplier online.  Take note that the pillars in white say they are for '71-'74 e-bodies, but the black pieces are for '70 -'74 e-bodies.  What's that about?

Yeah, I noticed that too.  I thought it was odd but also just could have been a typo.  In any case, whenever I order them, I'll be contacting them directly to validate what I'm getting.

:D Yeah, I try to avoid Yearone if I can, just because they are usually more expensive than anywhere else.  Having said that, I have to admit their sales people seem very knowledgeable. I really can't believe there would be any difference in an "A" pillar from a 70, or a 71-74. My guess is they made a typo.

Yeah, I can't imagine any difference either.  The other colors are for 70-74.

Every time I've talked to year1, they've been not only knowledgeable, but extremely helpful and friendly too.  I know they may be more expensive, but I don't mind paying for really good service (if it's not too expensive).

I searched around Carlisle for A-pillar trim in July. I found some decent ones for $5.00 each.
However, when I got home I found the screw holes were different. I guess I picked up some later model parts, not 1970 pieces. The ones I bought had only one hole. The '70 parts had two holes.
The one hole that was there lined up correctly. On the back of the trim there is a boss where you can drill a hole to fit an earlier car.
