What a long Mopar day today
« on: October 28, 2006 - 10:56:20 PM »
The guys finished my 1200 sqft shop a couple of days ago and so I got busy today for my first day. I got both my cuda and challenger inside. Along with lots of my tools, shelves and some specific items for the cars. I have been doing this since 6am. I am beat and just got inside. But besides moving things in I got the following things done.
Build a set of 410 8 3/4 sure grip section
Build and set up a 489 sure grip in a #2 housing.
Finished changing the drivers motor mount on the 440 challenger
Make a tq chain strap for the drivers side so it wont break the mount again
Install front sway bar on challenger

I am pleased and worn out completely, it has been a long hard day. Tomorrow I will install the 410's and see if it is better then the 323 gears I have now, then rebuild the front end on the challenger. I got all the parts ready and the bushing already pressed in another set of lower control arms.
Then I will order some new front seats from Dante tomorrow and a cheetah reverse manual for the challenger from summit to install wednesday.. These cars wear me out fast. But I love it.........

I was so busy working I didnt think about taking pictures of me working? But here's a shot of my 499 dart. I have 5 miles on this car since 1976 . The 499 was installed in 97. Shows how much time I have for racing. I just sold this car last month.

Well another long day ahead of me today. I am going to be replacing my front end on my 74 challenger, maybe convert it over to standard disc brakes, and aslo install the 410 gears in it I put together last night. The 323's has a power lock on them. This 410's has a sure grip, I like the power locks better. I am putting my 488's together the end of the week, but I have to call doctor differential, he has a sale on 30 spline spools with the bearings installed, plus I need 2 pinion bears and the seal. I won't never use them, but It will be easier to sell the 488's that way. They are really 489's but I didn't want anyone to get confused with the # 9 (489) housing. Note to self, call summit racing today and order a new valve body.

Man !!!!!!  You sound like me a few years back. Working regular job, than working on cars at night, than working on the race car (7 days a week), working 25 hours days for a long time. The only time off was actually going racing for 3 day weekends all around the Northeast and that is no picnic either. Kind of burnt me out. Now work on the house and tool around in the Cuda....See ya.....Vin...

Whoa, I am beat. :horse:  Very long day. My dad threw a wrench in between the gears on me today. I had to drive 100 miles round trip to bring his plymouth voyager over here to work on. Sucker was in the limp mode 2nd gear and 3200 rpm and 40 mph for 58 miles across the mountain was a boring ride. So he kinda slowed me down a bit. But I got the 410 I built last night installed in my car and went for a test ride :bananasmi It was no comparison between 323 and 410 gears with a bb and fat tires. I actually got some of the front end work done too. But side tracked enough to start removong the dash pad out of the cuda to replace it with a new one.  This kind of fun wears me down happy  :pullinghair:

OK, took the dash pad off the frame a bit ago. Now eating Pizza :droolingbounce: Then going back out to install dash frame back in cuda so the glass people can come out and install a front windshield for 190 bucks :2thumbs: Then re install my back window 25 bucks. Did struts and axles and hi/lo sensors on my dads voyager today. New radiator tomorrow and drop off the 70 cuda radiator for a new 3 row flute for 200= tax . I hate being over 50, it is slowing me down !!
