Air rides rear air bar?
« on: December 17, 2006 - 12:10:18 PM »
Has anyone installed this and what are your opinions of it?  I think they may have put it on Goody's dads challenger, but I don't know how much they have gotten to drive it.  I am looking at getting this when I get my tax return early next year.

Yeah I thought you had said it was going to be a couple of months.  Hopefully someone else will have some insight.

The quality of the pieces are good but I didn't recieve all of the hardware. I bought mine through Relly Motorsports and omited the air springs because I bought the Alter-k-tion with coil-overs. IMO, you should't mix spring types. Why go air in the back when you don't have it in front? Alter-k-tion is now available with air suspension but I bought mine before Bill re-did his jig to allow for both coil-overs or air springs.
Why did I go with the Air-Bar if I am not doing air? Well, for my application I wanted a triangulated 4-bar or a 3-bar suspension. With time not on my side, I decided to go with the well designed (regardless of shock type) 4-bar set-up. I had ruled out a 4-link because it isn't as dynamic of a system, it binds too much when cornering.
Overall, the system is well designed but there is an issue with the quality control of the packaging and shipping. I dealt with RMS because I have a good customer relationship with him and I like to support his efforts, he told me he has heard of several instances where the customer did not get all of thier bolts and washers. I had bolts I didn't use and not enough bolts I did need. Perhaps I got another Air-Ride kit's bolt group, they do alot of different kits for alot of different cars. ???
I would do it again but I would demand, from the beginning, I got my bolts. I spent and extra $23 at the hardware store.

I didn't know that rms was selling this also.  So they have a coil over that will work with the rest of the kit?  Or do you think that sticking with the air bags and then getting the alter kation kit with the air bags would yeild a better ride?

If you were going to get the Alter-k with Air-Ride, definately get the air bar. No sense in doing one without the other IMO. Ride quality will be superb and you can set your car at different ride height with the flip of a switch. There is even preset with some controlers. All this drives up the cost but it is really cool. Bill's tech forum will answer all your questions. He is on quite often.
