There are slight differences in the cowl, in the brakes, in the frame rails, inner fenders, etc.  They are things you can lean over and see close to the car if you know what to look for.

I say build your '73 into the '70. It's value will only go up if you ever sell it and it sounds like that'll be the way to get the Cuda that you really want.
