Could Someone Please Decode this?
« on: October 21, 2006 - 10:35:29 AM »
Don't know for sure, my brother sent me this from his cell phone camera. It's suppose to be a 64 Barracuda. Can someone tell me what it is for sure? Thanks!

Guess this is too old for anyone here to figure out!  :clueless: I thought for sure someone here would be able to decipher this. I've  searched for the information till I'm  :eek7: boo-goo eyed. I'll just have to wait and see if anyone can figure this out. I was hoping to go check this out tomorrow but wanted to know what the story was on it before driving 100 miles each way to find out it's not anything I'd be interested in. The guy only wants $500.00 for it and I was going to see if he'd take less. No engine or trans, I'm not even sure if it was an auto or what.

Thanks Chryco, I think I'm going to wait another week before deciding, just don't want to drive 200 miles and waste the whole day if I'm not a little better informed about this.

I try...

SO (0711) = Built date = maybe July 11 (1964)
Number (3322) = Production Sequential Serial Number
BDY (V49) = Body = Barracuda Serie V8
TRM (P5B) = Interior Trim Code = Blue
PNT (DDD) = Paint = Valiant Medium Blue Metallic

A (3) = engine (273 cui V8)
F (1) = option codes = (power brakes ?)
H (5) = (power windows ?)
M (3) = ?
T (3 or 8 , should be 8 ) = guages, etc = Tach

...the rest for Barry... :grinyes:

Thanks, that is very helpful. It tells me at least is's an original V8 Barracuda. Any idea if these first year V8 Barracuda's are worth 500.00 without the engine, trans or gauges? Glass is all good less the windshield that is cracked. I'm not sure yet if it was a 4 speed or automatic but my brother thinks it was a 4 speed originally. The body is solid with no rust through but does have some bodo in a couple of suspect areas. The floors are solid, the tire well is rusted through. Just trying to see if it's worth picking up for either a future project, selling parts or who knows what.  :2thumbs:

Hey Plum6.....I can tell you from building my '64, that I have learned plenty. 64 and 65 are alomost identical. The differences I have found that the 64 has knobs on the heater controls and the 65 has sliding controls. Also, since 64 was the first year, the outstanding difference is the Valiant emblem on the rear near the right light assembly. I will at look my code info tomorrow and get back to you.

Thanks Culvers, I checked it out, they have some decoding info there but missing a couple of the codes. I will email them but didn't yet till I hear from Dave who just replied.
I'll check in again and see what you found out Dave. I'm leaving Wed to go up and see this, maybe I'll drag it back, not sure yet.
