Tach for non ralley dash
« on: August 12, 2003 - 11:31:54 PM »
Email from Redline

We can sell you just the tach for $195 (2 year warranty).  It hooks up like any other aftermarket tach with a ground, 12 volt switched power source, and a negative side of the coil wires. Another option is to ship us your whole cluster and let us restore the whole thing.  This way the artwork on your faces will all match and the pointers will all be freshly painted.  Here is the breakdown on restoring the entire cluster.

$110 – speedometer repair and calibration (a must for 30+ year old speedos)

$250 – reprint all instrument faces, pointers and detail plastic lens

$45 ea – gauge repair (as needed)

$195 – E-body Non-Rallye Tach

Just my opionion, but $195 for an after-market tach seems steep. It does look nice in the cluster though. I guess it all depends on how your cluster looks as to whether to have it restored or not. Rally gauges for a 72-74 go for less than 70-71 gauges. Still, if yu want a workin set... I'd guess you'd pay over $300 for them.

I bought a used set of non rally gauges at Carlisle so that I didn't have to drive my Cuda without gauges.  They tested / calibrated / rebuilt the used set, cleaned & painted the faces & pointers, polished the clear cover,  reset the milage to match my gauges and installed their tach for $370.   Received it all within 3 weeks.

Looks really good and works well.   I can vouch for their integrity and quality.  Value is subjective.   Is it worth the price?   It was to me.

PS:  The only down Side is the tach is at the far right side of the cluster, and I have to lean over to the right slightly to see it completely.   Normally I list to the port side........  ;D

I took a look at Cuda-Kid's set up at the Nat's.  All I can say is SWEET !   ;D  The Tach looks like it belongs there, matches all the now new looking guages.  All in all a really nice job.

Rev-It-Up, if you happen to read this, I'll probably be sending my guages off to them for a tune-up.
