Slap-Stik Shifter Light?
« on: March 11, 2004 - 10:24:56 AM »
Did all of them have it? I've orderd my slap-stik shifter assembly but don't know if I'll be getting a light wire + it's bits?

What does it actually light up? This ----> P]R]N]D]2]1] or the whole shifter plate?  ??? I have seen slap-stik wires on eBaY and wonder where they go, what they light up and did they all come with it standard?  :P

My Slap-Stik light lights up the whole plate and indicats which position it in with a different color . The indicator light plugs into a molded plastic plug under the dash that also connects to all the other dash lights it should have three opanings in it for bullet plugs I can not remember if it is orange or red.

Cool, so all I Have to find out is if they all had that option. I can't see in any way that the shifter bezel would have little ights etc so I guess it's just one light but different color shades that light up and when not on get covered up by the black part.
I think I just made sense? lol!!  ;D

Anyone concur?

So at the end of the orange cable/lead it will have a light?  ???
Where does it clip to? I guess it would just sit under the shifter plate, right?  ;D

NZ,
There is a little hole the socket plugs into under the shifter plate. Now, the socket has the "+" 12 volts on it. The housing of the shifter plate is the ground. Make sure the bulb fits tight under the shifter plate. I mention this because I thought my bulb burned out, when all that happened was the socket fell out from under the shifter plate, and had no ground connection anymore. I hope I didn't confuse you ::)

Here's a slap-stik indicator with colors on it, this looks more like a light one? How does the black "common" type shine through? You can see that the light would pass through this bezel easy.
The ones with the light, did they only come like the photo below?, did the black plate ones come with lights?  ???
I just can't see how the light will pass throught the black plate?  ???

NZ,
I have to tell you, I have NEVER seen a colored plate like that before. A special export ;D The light on the black plate shines thru from underneath, so actually, the whole plate is lit up. You can see all gears at all times.

Unfortunatly your missing a peice >:(There is a black plastic part that slides into the bezel it has a little notch that lets light thru in one position at a time and also has a hole for your shifter to fit thru.

Thanks MEKrunner  ;)

lime: I should have said, it's one I found on the net. I've posted a photo of mine, which is black and is complete.  :)

I see what you mean now MEK, the hole plate lights up. I wonder how effective it is?
looks like a blow touch couldn't get light through that lol!! :D ;D
