Road Runner
« on: November 07, 2006 - 11:48:16 PM »
i am setting plans to, hopefully, buy a Road Runner and, well " allow my imagination to run wild", and being a mopar related site I figured that it would be proper to ask you guys some questions. Like:

1. what is a good buy (non restored)
2. if its a project what would be the best streetable/ playable engine
(no money for a hemi  :'()
3. What color do YOU think it would look best in.

Just questions like that. I know some of you have RRs on this site so hows about some pics? Give me your ideas on what I should do to make a wild nostalgic 1970-75 era PERFECT car.

I'm going from a B-body to ebody so here is my done 69 Road Runner.  Originally a 383/auto car, its now a pretty good replica for a 6 bbl car (hemi 4 speed, dana, factory air cleaner and hood, etc.).

Prices are all over the place, but I would guess a complete car, like a 69, would go for anywhere between $7k and $14k depending on condition.  I think 70s are a little harder to come by but should be about same price range.   As for colors, I think any of the stock colors look pretty good.  Some colors that look good on e-bodies don't always translate well to the larger, square b-bodies. But thats just my opinion.

I think a Lemon Twist '70 RR with an air grabber and a 440-6 pack would be killer!!!  Here's one I've  been in a couple times:
1973 Dodge Challenger......................The ongoing project. (00/----\00)
1991 Dodge Stealth R/T Twin-Turbo....The sunny day cruiser (RTBoost)
1990 Toyota Celica GT Liftback...........The new daily & winter driver.
All-American Muscle: 'Cudas and Challengers...Still the Elite and always will be.

1970RTSE is there a reson y you have a black hood? Is that the way that they were made form the factory, or was that just a personal choice?I want your scoop! I was thinking on a 440-6 car but I am worried about price, and gas because we are over 4.00$ in gas and to do this project I would have to sell my daily driver, my three wheeler, and my t bird. So I would end up driving it daily.  :woohoo:

I plan on a 4 speed, most likely a 440-6, and a dimond tuck intiror. I want to make a 70's perfect street rod so was anyone assocatied with a 69-70 road runner from the 70's?

The car is a clone of the 69 - 1/2 Road Runner.  In 69, Dodge and Plymouth came out with the A12 option on Super Bee & Road Runner.  The package consisted of the 440 w/6 bbl, heavy duty transmission, dana w/4.10 ratio (for both auto and manual trans), fiberglass lift off hood w/air cleaner sealed to hood, heavy duty suspension and plain black steel wheels.  The fiberglass hood was painted flat black from the factory.

I used all factory components but the car was originally a 383 Road Runner.
