Help - I can't move the....
« on: November 19, 2006 - 05:59:14 PM »
torsion bar adjusting nut, so that I can change the suspension height...the nut won't budge.   :1zhelp:  I jacked up the side of the car that I'm trying to adjust, but I can't move it in either direction.
(it is the nut on the front of the suspension, directly across from the torsion bar...right? I think it's a 15/16 size)

If you've got any ideas on why I can't adjust it, or if you have a picture of the nut I'm suppose to be adjusting, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!

Apply lots of penetrating fluid and let is sit overnight, try moving it both directions to break it loose. If still will not move, try a little heat on the swivel that the bolt goes through.  Don't forget if you change your ride height you will need to re-align the front end.

*edit, make sure you are trying to move the bolt circled in the above picture.

Go by the photo Alaskan_TA posted. Use a 3/4 " socket, the 15/16" nut is for the lower control arm. You don't want to touch that one.....

Thanks All!!  The pic is great, as I was trying to adjust the wrong thing (the factory manual I'm using was vague at best for pointing out the adjusting nut).  I'll give it a soaking and try it out tomorrow.

Thanks!

make sure you jack the car up & remove as much load from the bolt as possible
