Does anyone know the part number for a 3/8 Carter fuel pump? (440)
« on: November 13, 2006 - 04:37:42 PM »
None of the parts sites I've been to list whether it's 5/16 or 3/8.

Even the Carter site doesn't say!

The block is a 68 440HP. I'm thinking I'll be setting it up like a 70 440 six-pack car.

A Carter would have been on those, correct?

I have a hi-volume Carter pump I bought from Summit. You have to install your own fittings for the fuel lines, so a trip to Home Depot solved that problem.

What, does the high volume carter not have the 3/8" inputs/outputs?

They have the right parts at home depot? If I have to go looking, do you remember what they were called?

It' been a few years, so my memory is foggy.  :banghead: I have 3/8" rubber lines going into, and out of my fuel pump. In the plumbing section I found fittings that screwed into the input/output of the fuel pump. They were tapered on each end, so you really could use any size fuel line, I suppose. Just clamp it on. If you are really at a loss here, I can probably take a pic of my setup for you.

Actually, now that I look at it, it looks like a simple brass pipe fitting. I'll just take my new pump with me and check the thread pitch against what they have at HD and I should be good to go.

I'm making a second career out of thanking you. :-)

Thanks!
