18 vs. 23 spline

Can anyone tell me the difference between the two other than five.  Thank you in advance.

the input shaft is a bigger daimeter on the 18 spline & the gears were pitched differently so it has more strength Not thet the 23 spline is weak or easily broken

So if you were going to put a 833 behind a 440, the 18 spline is the trans of choice?  If an 18-spline can't be found, will the 23 still hold the abuse of a slightly hepped up 440?

I raced my 440 Duster & street drove it for 9 years with a "weak" 23 spline OD in it , it did 2-3 ' wheel stands dumping the clutch at 5500 rpm & ran 11.7s @ 118 mph , it normally had ET street sticky tires on the street & a 29 X 10.5 slick at the track & had ladderbars for traction , I broke 4 - 8 3/4 " center section with that trans , I still have the tranny
