4-speed conversion for 440
« on: November 20, 2006 - 01:06:26 PM »
I am interested in converting my 71 Challenger with a 440 to a manual. I need everything. I would love to do it using Keisler's kits, but they cost too much. I have seen several forums on the conversion and looks easy enough to do.

Where is the best/least expensive place to get the pieces for the Conversion?

I noticed a complete kit on eBay, but I have been screwed too many times buying vintage Mopar stuff that I am now skeptical.

Has anyone ever bought their kit or anything else from these guys?

I can't afford to do this more than once, so I want to spend the least amount of coin teh first time around. Please let me know what you all think. If it makes any difference, I live in Washington state. Thanks in advance.

that "looks" ok except the flywheel needs to be turned & you have no idea of the condition of the tranny
There was a Guy at fall fling with complete conversions as well , could be the same seller , he seems to have good parts & reputation , his name was Darrell
a lot of parts should be new , Clutch , release brg, Flywheel & maybe th belhousing as often a lot of the holes are stipped or the housing can be cracked  , the rest will be fine used
440 Source has the best deal on new flywheels
Brewers has brand new bels for $299
Brewers & Passon are both good to deal with & will have every part you could need between the 2 of them

From what I could see in the picture, I thought the same thing. But, I did see last night while searching forum that Piston Gripper had bought a kit from him and was very pleased with it. I was going to try to contact him and get more information.

Thanks for the other companies as well. I will have to check them out. I think I sent Brewers and email the other day asking for some information. I will have to check out Passon as well.
