What is the correct finish for a blower motor?

Specifically the visible cylindrical cover that portrudes through the firewall. I am thinking of purchasing a restored one but it's all black and I think the part in question should be have a cad or aluminum finish. anyone know? Thanks!!!

Mine 73's both had the argent or aluminum finish.
