Has anyone seen or used these grilles before? Didn't know they made a 70 style after market grille.   :clueless:

I don't know which grill he has, I have never seen a "fiberglass racing grill" being sold by any vendor (not one that looks as original as that one appears to be anyway). There is a guy in the south who now makes cast resin replicas of 70 grills & headlight buckets. They are not injection molded plastic as originals were (cast resin is much different stuff) the back sides are rather rough looking, and they require quite a bit of sanding, filling, and finishing work due to casting flaws & resin bubbles, etc. but they are the right shape overall and work fine if you can't find an original. They don't come with stainless trim (which can be expensive and hard to find used) and they cost for the grill and both bezels was around $1,200.00 plus shipping. Here are a couple pics of one I bought. Pics taken of the grill as it was right out of the shipping box.

Yes it seems to be, but the "Chevyized" engine bay would make me want to look a little closer at everything else before accidentally buying a cobbled up pile with pretty new paint.

Think these new grilles are less prone to cracking?

The newer grills should not be as crack prone because the two componant Urethane resin they are cast from is not as hard/more flexible than injection molded ABS (the stuff made in the 60's anyway, modern ABS is far better). HOWEVER......The urethane resin is MUCH more likely to warp from heat (Example in the hot sun in Arizona on an asphalt parking lot). I've seen  warpage issues with other reproduction cast urethane parts and accordingly would cast a suspect eye on ANYTHING cast in urethane regardless of the blend the manufacturer claims (I've heard allot of testing "stories" from various vendors but no real test data has been presented by any of them). Bottom line, Urethane may not melt, but it can certainly warp and at pretty low temps, especially as compared to factory ABS.
