Car on E-BAY, Transmission linkage problem.
« on: November 27, 2006 - 01:41:37 PM »
A friend of mine, sent me this link of a wrecked '70 Challenger for sale in St. Louis.

I know nothing about the car but can see in the picture that it has an aftermarket intake manifold.

Like I said before; "When you put an aftermaket intake manifold on an automatic car, you have to check your kickdown linkage for the "over-center-stuck-at -wide-open-throttle" problem.    I don't know how this car got wrecked but I can make a calculated guess that it happened with the throttle stuck.

Please check your cars for this problem by working your throttle all the way open with the engine not running, to see if this happens.

That's a sad sight, but the car looks saveable.  It really was a beauty.

Yeah, one of the first things put on is usually a carb or intake and that changed angle is usually a problem when the stock throttle pressure linkage is used. A simple fix would be to add some lengh to the manifold bracket by extending the legs with metal and a wleder.

MK,  Once that roof got tweaked, everything changed. I wonder if  I know the guy. It's being sold by a Mustang rebuilder and doesn't list the owner.
