Tailight Ring
« on: November 27, 2006 - 12:37:42 PM »
While washing my car yesterday, I noticed the chrome taillight ring (See Pic) was loose, and when I sprayed a little water behind it, it fell off.  Does anyone know what holds these on?  Silicone?  I put it back on and pressed it in really good and it seems to be staying put.  In fact, I tried to take it off and leave it off so I wouldn't loose it and I couldn't get it off again!  :roflsmiley:  But does anyone know what holds these on?

Thanks,
Bob

Don't really know what did hold these on, but I know that I put mine back on with silicone. I hope it sticks as well as I think, cuz I'll have to punt if it doesn't.
When I took them off originally, there was, what looked like, a black bonding agent of some sort.

That's what I found on mine.  I thought it was rust build-up, but when I touched it, it looked like some old silicone or other type of bonding agent that they used.  I'll probably use silicone if I can't figure out what they used.
