lower hinge rebuild kits

The rebuild kit for the lower hinges include hat shaped bronze bushings. It looks like there quite isn't enough room to install them.   I could force them in or grind some of the metal away...OR....just peen some of the steel around the holes to close them up and just skip the bushings.   what do you think?

I think when I did these I drilled the hinge out to accept the bushings. IIRC.

I ordered kits for one of the cars I have here now,, It came with the bushings, but they are still loose,, so That was a waste of money,, One other car I have here the owner supplied me with hinges that were
rebuilt , NO Bushings,, just Way oversized pins that were tapped into place.. They seem to work fine.
Hurry,, Duane the tub,,I'm Dwouning....

I think the idea is if your hinges are worn you can drill em & use the bushings, if there tight(the pins in the old hinges) you don't need em? Rich.
