heater/ a/c box drain 1973 challenger
« on: December 15, 2006 - 03:25:27 PM »
I am putting air back on my challenger [ sanden conversion ]using Bouchillon brackets everything new under hood. I was redoing my heater box and I was wondering what kind of drain fitting is suppose to come out of the box. I have a little  hose I bought off of ebay Really thin rubber is suppose to work it is flatten on one end. But how does that connect to box is there something else? :clueless:

I don't know if this helps. My car was originally AC, but it just had a fitting turning downward from the heater box. I will take a pic tomorrow for you.

   :iagree:

Mine didn't have a hose. It is just a fitting turned downward. Correct, I don't know.  :dunno:

There should be a approx 1" hole in the firewall below the fan motor to the right where the drain from the heater A/C box sticks through that one end of the hose connects to. The flattened end should face the ground. I have a longer hose on my car as I don't want the water dripping on the header.

Thanks for the help It is hard to put on stuff you did'nt take off. I was trying to make sure I did'nt get water in my floor. I don't want to remove that heater box again . Did anyone have to do anything to the idle when they added air? I have a small cam idles pretty good. Thanks Bill

Even without the hose on, the water will drain outside the car. There is a seal around the drain and the firewall where the drain sticks through.

I didn't have to do anything with the idle and I have a small cam also, but I'm using a sanden compressor. If u need any pics let me know.
