AAR Hood/INDY Intake Clearance
« on: December 20, 2006 - 09:31:17 PM »
I am planning on using an AAR hooh on Go-Fish, my 'cuda. I have the suspension and brakes done and only lack the heads, valvetrain, and intake.
Is anyone on here using an AAR hood with an Indy, M1, or Edelbrock Super Victor intake with an LA engine. All pretty tall intakes.
I will be running the Supercharger Store's D1-SC centrifugal supercharger with thier supplied air hat wich isn't any taller than a 2 inch air cleaner. I am thinking clearance is going to be tight and fear I may have to choose a lower profile intake or not be able to experiment with carb spacers when I get to the point of tuning the engine.
I am not expecting to find someone with the same combos, and actually hope I don't, but just trying to get close. Just fishing I guess.

the Best option would be to fuel inject , it would be more adaptable to tune with the blower boost & get rid of the carb on top of the intake for more clearance

Well, I would love to but I already have an ultra expensive blowthrough Demon. I was looking at Edelbrocks Pro-Flo EFI and then the price blew me away. I'm going to stay with the blowthrough. I have seen AAR hoods that are taller than stock, I may have to go that route, but still I have a little time before I will be able to build the engine.

The edelbrock Torker 2 would be a good choice...But with those intake choices you have listed are higher rpm....Too bad you couldnt find a Edelbrock TM7 they are really low profile with a higher rpm range...

I need to get a single plane that is best at 4,500-5,800 RPM. I was looking at the three options I listed above because Hughes sells them and offers them "massaged".
The Weiand Team G looks to be shorter and it has a lower optimal RPM range. The 3 above had a little higher range than what I would like. I'm going to research the Team G a little more.

I think the best way will be to install the engine, install the hood, and fabricate up from there.
