Dominator Carb Height

Can someone who has a dominator carb please measure the height....the base to the carb flange....

same a s a standard Holley 3.5" if I remeber right

I was thinking 4??? worried about hood clearance.....maybe someone has one in here and can measure it??

I know it is the same height as the regular Holleys

I had a guy email me saying it was 3.75 tall.....The ad in jegs says .250 taller main body which got me thinking???

C's right.  It's 3.5, just like the 4150 I got here at the house.  Measured both and they're the same.

Seems like hood clearance is a hot topic here lately, there's about three threads on it right now, including mine!

3.75 and 3.50 is a big difference for me....I have a total of 13.25 inches to the top of my TA six pack hood...

Victor 440 Intake         6.00
4150 to 4500 adapter     .50
Dominator Carb            3.50
16 K&N Filter               3.25

Right on the number    13.25 total height hmmmm plus gaskets......

Here's a pic of my hood clearance with the dominator, a RB block with Eddy heads and a Wiend Team G for a 4150 style carb. 
The hood is a stock Rallye hood.  I hope to be able to use a fiberglass reproduction hood....looks like if I modify that intake to accept a dominator (mill it down and weld a flange to it) it might work.  That brace that's over the top of the carb won't be there on the fiberglass version, so I'm thinking that I have about 3.5 inches to play with before I get into big trouble.  The front suspension is an AlterKtion with the spool mounts, so the motor's not going to move much.

Tubbed 440...I have your answers.....
I know the 4150 weiand is 5" high and the Dominator is 3.50" high giving you 8.5" total...which leaves you 3.5" to your hood.....but most 4150 to 4500 adapters are 2" + airfilter and your way over.....

So you Have a total of 12 inches to work with....wait that sounds kind of funny....Anyway here is your answer!!!!

CLASSIC 4150 Weiand is 4.5" tall and there is a 4150 to 4500 adapter that is .50' tall with the 3.5" dominator carb and the K&N 16 diameter filter that is a total of 3.25' tall......so
4.5+.5+3.5+3.25 ='s 11.75" + gaskets and you will make it!!!!

This will keep you from doing any cutting/welding...and it all should work! 4150 to 4500 adapters are a claimed 15-20HP gain indy claims on their website...

Big difference between the adaptor that Indy is speaking of and the one you posted.  The one that they are refering to is about 2 inches tall...and it won't fit...lol.

Anyways, thanks for the info!  I needed some good news today!

Maybe you could find a good fiberglass guy and lift that hood up a couple of inches.......
