Wht are the differences between 72 and 73 pitman arms? I am thinking it is the spline size. In all of my catalogs at work (moog, acdelco) they list them for a 73-74 but nothing earlier. I am going to put a new gear on it any way and have both of them avalible to me (actually in stock). If they are different can i go with a 73 gear and pitman and still use my other steering components to work?
NEW INFO:
Okay the difference according to the two different gears that i have in stock is that the 72 pitman shaft splines are 1.10" and the 73 is 1.20" that is the only difference that i can see. The steering shafts are both .62". My parts catalog from moog and acdelco both list them as 70-72 and 73-74. So will the 73 gear and pitman work with the 72 steering. only reason is i can get the 72 pitman arm from my work and save me money if not then i will get the gear box from me and a pitman arm from someone else.
Thanks Crank
