its been awhile. I've been out with a back injury for a while. picked up a roof from Dragfish, took it home and let her sit. last week I got physicalwith it and started getting it apart at the welds.Let me tell you it's an unholy act. random welds, etc.

A pic of the slightly dinged lowe trunk extension. Should I dare try to replace it?

Poke around a little and see what I have been up to. Proof that I'm alive.

Since the weather has been close to 50. I am able to do a heck of a lot more than I would when it's 30 deg.

Hopefully tomorrow I will begin welding the roof, or welding some more patches. I am excited!!!

I got my new tank of Argon and My MIG is dialed in, making metal heal is awesome. I feel like Frankenstein.

Keep checking my web site for updates, I am cooking!

Nice work you are doing there. How long did it take to get the roof off and how long did it take to get the replacement welded back on?

It probably took my a few days to cut off the roof. First I had to remove the caulk and lead. That took a few hours. I would say it was a cople of hours of drilling and centerpunching, and about 1-2hrs or grinding and wire wheeling. This could be a weekend job if you have the dedicated time, or an assitant, it makes it a heck of a lot easier.

I was fortunate to have a donor roof pre-removed from a donor car, so I was one-step ahead.
I did have a set-back. There were a few big dents in the roof rails onto the roof. They had a couple of creases, so I didn't know how they would come out. That in itself to about 2 days of rough/fine planishing and dolly blocking.

(See my how-to hammer fender section in the body shop) < http://www.cuda-challenger.com/cc/index.php?topic=28739.0 >

The replacement roof is not yet welded on. I am contemplating holding off, because temps are falling, and I have some pitting in a few areas that I would like to hit with Rust Bullit, or POR15. The skin is easily removable, it's just rather flimsy. It's clamped in place so I can fabricate the removed rusted sections.
