Paint amount
« on: December 05, 2006 - 06:50:07 AM »
If a challenger were to be painted....

Entire hood(top to bottom and the rest of the car (not painting inside of doors, trunk etc)

a basic protection paint job...

How much paint would be needed?

Recently painted my Barracuda and for just doing the exterior I bought a gallon of paint.  You will end up reducing it so it really is more than a gallon.  The same for the clear coat if you go that route.  I have paint left over and figure that is a good thing, so I can use it to do touch ups later.

I used a HVLP gun as well.  Using an older design spray gun will use more paint.  As far as how much, I can't answer that.  :dunno:  Maybe someone else will know.

I will likely have someone  do the Final paint job for the car, but would like to have a temp paint job done before hand. ... I just like being informed.

A gallon and a half would do it for a temporary quickey ... which is what you'd get after reducing one gallon ~

1 gallon should be plenty. I used 2 gallons on my 70 Cuda but I had to paint everything after it came back from the blaster. Top to bottom inside and out what a job that was.
