OK, kinda expected that...lol

if I were to run my 318 against your 340 I would want them on a fair / even playing field.

I do not know enough about the tech specs of each engine to compair.

boring, stroke, heads, etc.

put 340/360 heads on, after market heads, cam etc.

I will drive this on the road, but if I want to run  someone I want to know I have a good chance at beating them...

Well i know you said 340/360 heads, aftermarket heads...you mean intake? whats the budget on this sucker? if you plan on building one, build a little monster like this. bascially what i have but with more cam (fairly) and different pistons to run that cam

http://goodysgotacuda.com/318build.html

here is a video of a modded 340 vs my modded 318. he ran drag radials, i ran radials and my old pos converter. that night i was ran a 14.3, he ran a 14.60. he has since got his e/t down to 14.3 now, i'm at 14.0 at vegas running dry (gas) at the top end, fwiw. i should be able to do 13s no problem now that im in florida.  :cooldancing:

There is no true Budget at this point.  I am doing a Fesability study for lack of better terms.  I have several engines to choose from. 318 and 383 in need of rebuilding, a 360 that will cost me a little but runs, or whatever a guy I know has on hand (hoping for a 340 and if not a 440)

I like the idea of staying small block...resonable to drive and still fun.

no I was speaking of heads.  I have an alum 4bbl intake, so that is covered ...Edlb Tourker I think...

Use the 360 if posssible. The longest stroke makes the most power where you need it. You can build a nice 318 (400hp+) for about $4K that will embarass a lot of cheaper build 340s.

use a 360 , they are cheap to get & will make more torque , & torque moves the car

4K in parts or paying someone to build it? (may sound dumb)
